CoreWeave Stock (CRWV): Business, Debt and Risks

At the same time, CoreWeave debt climbed from US$21.4 billion to US$35.1 billion in just six months. This article walks through CoreWeave's business, financials, valuation, and risks, based on the Mobee Research report as of October 16, 2026, plus the latest closing price.
Key Takeaways
- CoreWeave rents out NVIDIA GPU computing capacity to customers such as Microsoft, OpenAI, and Meta under multi-year contracts. The company calls itself an "AI hyperscaler".
- Q2 2026 revenue rose 112% to US$2.6 billion, and remaining performance obligations (RPO), meaning contracted revenue not yet recognized, reached US$103.7 billion as of June 30, 2026.
- Growth has not turned into profit yet. GPU depreciation was about 54% of Q2 2026 revenue, which leaves an adjusted operating margin of only about 5%.
- Reported debt rose from US$21.4 billion (December 2025) to US$35.1 billion (June 2026), with roughly US$6.6 billion added after that. Q3 interest expense is guided at US$860 to US$940 million.
- The share price has dropped sharply. The stock closed at US$61.39 on October 16, 2026, down about 30.6% from the October 7 close and about 59% below its 52-week high.
- The Mobee Research model produces a very wide range of values, from US$11.94 to US$232.93 per share on the EV/EBITDA method, and zero on the discounted cash flow (DCF) method. That shows how sensitive CoreWeave's value is to assumptions.
What Is CoreWeave and How Does Its Business Work
CoreWeave was founded in 2017 by Michael Intrator (now CEO and Chairperson), Brian Venturo, and Brannin McBee, and launched its cloud platform in 2020. CRWV shares have traded on Nasdaq since March 28, 2025, with an IPO price of US$40 per share, and the stock joined the Nasdaq-100 index in the second quarter of 2026.
Unlike general-purpose clouds such as AWS or Azure, CoreWeave focuses on AI workloads. It buys GPUs (all from NVIDIA), leases data center space and power capacity, and then rents out the computing capacity. Providers like this are often called neocloud companies, and listed names in this group are what people mean by neocloud stocks.
Its revenue model rests on take-or-pay contracts with an average term of about five years: customers must pay for the capacity they have reserved, no matter how much they actually use. CoreWeave then funds most of its investment with debt secured by those contracts.
Capacity scale as of June 30, 2026:
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Active power | 1.5 GW |
| Contracted power | about 3.7 GW |
| Management target for 2030 | at least 8 GW |
| Active power guidance for end of 2026 | more than 1.85 GW |

One point on governance: the founders hold all of the Class B shares (10 votes per share), so executives and directors control 72.3% of voting power as of April 15, 2026. Public shareholders have limited influence over strategic decisions.
Financial Performance: Growing Fast, Not Yet Profitable
CoreWeave's revenue grew from US$1.9 billion in 2024 to US$5.1 billion in 2025, and reached US$2.6 billion in a single quarter in Q2 2026. Management guides 2026 revenue at US$12.4 to US$13.2 billion.

RPO, the value of signed contracts not yet recognized as revenue, reached US$103.7 billion as of June 30, 2026, compared with US$15.1 billion at the end of 2024. About 41% of RPO is scheduled to be recognized through June 2028. In other words, a large share of 2027 to 2028 revenue is already "locked in" by contracts, as long as customers are able to pay.
But big revenue does not mean profit. Here is a summary of the key numbers:
| Measure | 2024A | 2025A | 2026E | 2027E | 2028E |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Revenue | 1.9 | 5.1 | 12.8 | 24.0 | 36.3 |
| Revenue growth | 736% | 168% | 150% | 87% | 51% |
| Adjusted EBITDA margin | 63.7% | 60.3% | 58.0% | 61.4% | 61.9% |
| Adjusted operating margin | 18.6% | 13.0% | 8.2% | 12.0% | 13.9% |
| GAAP net income (loss) | -0.86 | -1.17 | -2.96 | -4.49 | -5.00 |
| Cash capex | not included | 10.3 | 37.0 | 36.0 | 35.3 |
| Free cash flow | not included | -7.3 | -29.2 | -29.0 | -22.9 |
| Net debt / Adj. EBITDA (x) | not included | 5.9 | 7.5 | 5.9 | 5.0 |
2026E follows the midpoint of management guidance. 2027E and 2028E are Mobee Research estimates, not company guidance. Adjusted EBITDA and adjusted operating income are non-GAAP measures. Sources: CoreWeave 2025 10-K and quarterly releases, Mobee Research model.
The adjusted EBITDA margin is high (60% in 2025), but GPUs are assets that lose value over time. GPU depreciation was about 54% of Q2 2026 revenue, so after depreciation the operating margin is only about 5%. GPUs are depreciated over six years, while NVIDIA launches a new product generation almost every year.

In the Mobee Research Base model, return on invested capital (ROIC) rises gradually to 6.4% by 2035, still below the cost of capital (WACC) of 11.01%. Free cash flow before interest is projected to turn positive only around 2034.
Return on capital vs cost of capital
While ROIC stays below WACC, additional investment does not create value in this model.
CoreWeave Debt: The Growth Engine and the Biggest Risk
CoreWeave funds its capacity build-out with debt. Reported debt rose from US$21.4 billion on December 31, 2025 to US$35.1 billion on June 30, 2026, followed by roughly US$6.6 billion more after that period, including a US$4.2 billion convertible bond in September 2026.
CoreWeave's debt is rising fast
Source: CoreWeave filings and Mobee Research report. The third figure is an addition, not a total.
A few numbers worth understanding:
- Q3 2026 interest expense is guided at US$860 to US$940 million, roughly four times that quarter's adjusted operating income.
- 2026 capital expenditure (capex) guidance is US$35 to US$39 billion. In the Mobee Research Base model, net debt grows to about US$71.2 billion by June 2027.
- New funding needs are about US$25 to US$35 billion per year, and US$10.6 billion of debt matures through the end of 2027.
- On the positive side, the average cost of debt fell by almost 300 basis points in a year as CoreWeave shifted toward investment grade loans and convertible bonds with coupons of 1.75% to 2.875%.
That is why financing news moves the stock so much. On October 14, 2026, the shares fell 15.46% after media reports that yields on CoreWeave's bonds were approaching 15%.
Customers: Concentrated, but Starting to Spread Out
The three largest customers made up 72% of Q2 2026 revenue, and Microsoft alone was about 67% of 2025 revenue. The largest customer's share fell from 71% in Q2 2025 to 36% in Q2 2026 as the Meta contracts (up to US$14.2 billion and US$21 billion) and the OpenAI contract (up to about US$22.4 billion) started to ramp up.
Customer share of revenue

This diversification has not removed concentration risk. Contract value is only realized if customers can pay: CRWV shares fell 7.77% on October 8, 2026 after media reports about OpenAI's revenue. Some customers are also building their own computing capacity, including Meta, which announced a GPU rental service for outside parties in July 2026.
Valuation and Neocloud Stocks: Cheap or Expensive Depends on the Method
No peer is truly comparable to CoreWeave. Nebius and IREN are other neocloud stocks with still-small EBITDA, Oracle is a mature software company with an AI cloud business, and the data center REITs (Digital Realty and Equinix) lease facilities under 10 to 20 year contracts, unlike GPUs that are depreciated over six years.
| Company | Price (US$) | Market cap (US$ billion) | EV / revenue | EV / EBITDA |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nebius (NBIS) | 188.41 | 51.6 | 39.7x | 208.5x |
| Oracle (ORCL) | 134.47 | 407.7 | 7.5x | 15.7x |
| IREN (IREN) | 30.39 | 12.0 | 19.6x | 361.9x |
| Digital Realty (DLR) | 174.47 | 65.9 | 12.4x | 26.2x |
| Equinix (EQIX) | 996.26 | 98.3 | 12.2x | 26.6x |
| CoreWeave (CRWV) | 69.69 | 38.4 | 11.1x | 22.3x |
Trailing vendor basis (EV includes leases, GAAP EBITDA), accessed October 16, 2026. Nebius and IREN EV/EBITDA are very high because their EBITDA is small. Each peer is quoted from a single vendor. Source: StockAnalysis.
For that reason, Mobee Research leans more on CoreWeave's own multiple history: EV to forward 12-month Adjusted EBITDA fell from 21.1x in June 2025 to 4.9x on October 15, 2026, close to the low of 4.5x. The data covers only five quarters, so conclusions are limited.

As an external reference, the consensus compiled by StockAnalysis (S&P Global data, October 15, 2026) shows 30 of 41 analysts rating the stock Buy or Strong Buy, with price targets that are widely scattered, from US$39 to US$278. A spread that wide shows analysts themselves disagree on what CoreWeave is worth.
| Measure | Market consensus | Mobee Research model |
|---|---|---|
| 2026 revenue | US$12.9 billion | US$12.8 billion |
| 2027 revenue | US$26.3 billion | US$24.0 billion |
Consensus comes from an aggregate data provider, not from individual brokerages' research. The Mobee Research model is not calibrated to consensus; 2027 revenue is lower because 2027 active power is capped at 2,950 MW.
Three Scenarios in the Mobee Research Model
Mobee Research models three scenarios with weights of Bear 25%, Base 50%, and Bull 25% (the weighting is an analyst judgment, not the result of a statistical calculation):
| Scenario | 2028 active power | Adjusted operating margin | EV/EBITDA multiple | Value per share (12-month EV/EBITDA) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bear | 3,000 MW | about 2% | 4.5x | US$11.94 |
| Base | 4,100 MW | about 12 to 14% | about 5 to 7x | US$66.35 |
| Bull | 5,000 MW | 21% | 7.2x | US$232.93 |
Bear assumes funding pressure slows the build-out. Bull assumes capacity approaching management's 8 GW target and the multiple returning to the five-quarter median. Source: Mobee Research model.

Two things are worth noting from this model:
- The result is highly sensitive to the multiple. Because of leverage, every 1x increase in EV/EBITDA adds about US$38.65 per share to the Base value, and a multiple 1x lower cuts the Base value to about US$27.70.
- The DCF method produces zero equity value in all three scenarios. The Base DCF value before the zero floor is minus US$136.05 per share, because ROIC (6.4%) is below WACC (11.01%). At US$69.69, the market implies a 6.21% discount rate on Base cash flows, far below CoreWeave's own cost of debt. In other words, the market price depends on a belief that margins and multiples will improve, not on near-term cash flow.
Mobee Research also includes the extreme risk explicitly: a 4% probability of default or restructuring within 12 months if funding access closes, with a residual equity value of 10%.
Technical Analysis and the Latest Price
On the daily chart as of October 15, 2026, CRWV formed a descending triangle, with steadily falling resistance and a main support area around US$68 to US$78. Stochastic RSI at 7.10 and 2.97 points to momentum in oversold territory, while MACD is still negative, with the MACD line below the signal line. Volume surged on October 14 and 15 (107 million and 131 million shares per day). The report warned that if the price fails to hold the support zone and breaks down on heavy volume, the decline could extend to the US$40 to US$50 range.
Update, October 19, 2026: on Friday, October 16, CRWV closed at US$61.39 (down 11.91%), below that US$68 to US$78 zone, on volume of 94.8 million shares and a daily range of US$59.90 to US$66.69. After the close the price was US$60.97. Market capitalization is about US$33.9 billion.

A price below a support zone does not automatically mean it will keep falling, and oversold does not automatically mean a rebound. Both only describe current price conditions and are not predictions.
Catalysts and Risks to Watch
| Catalyst | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Q3 2026 results | Scheduled for November 2026 (date not yet announced; vendors estimate November 9 to 16). Guidance: revenue of US$3.45 to US$3.6 billion, adjusted operating income of US$200 to US$260 million. The most closely watched item is the operating margin of mature capacity moving toward the "low teens" guided for Q4 2026. |
| Funding costs | The ATM program and convertible bonds aim to move the credit profile toward investment grade. Each 1 point drop in WACC lifts the Bull DCF value from minus US$64.92 to minus US$29.26 per share before the zero floor. |
| New customers and inference | New enterprise customers in Q2 2026 include Caterpillar, Bentley Systems, and Grammarly. Management targets managed inference annual recurring revenue of at least US$250 million by the end of 2026. |
| Contract renewals | Renewals at the end of lease terms at prices that hold up are the only path to a positive DCF value in the model. |
| Risk | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Funding access | New funding needs of US$25 to US$35 billion per year and US$10.6 billion of maturities through the end of 2027. In the Bear scenario, the 12-month value falls to US$11.94. |
| Customer concentration and credit | Three customers account for 72% of Q2 2026 revenue, and some are AI companies that are also burning cash. A delay or cancellation of one large contract would hit revenue and debt-servicing ability directly. |
| GPU useful life | If GPUs become obsolete faster than six years or rental prices fall when the first contracts end, ROIC does not reach 6.4% and equity value depends entirely on the market multiple. |
| Leverage and dilution | Convertible bonds equal roughly 100 million shares if converted, and the ATM program covers up to 35 million shares. The CEO sells about 307,692 shares per week under a scheduled 10b5-1 sales plan. |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is CoreWeave?
CoreWeave is a cloud computing company focused on AI workloads. It rents out computing capacity built on NVIDIA GPUs to AI developers such as Microsoft, OpenAI, and Meta under multi-year contracts. Its shares have traded on Nasdaq under the ticker CRWV since March 28, 2025.
What are neocloud stocks?
Neocloud stocks are shares of a new generation of cloud providers focused on GPU computing for AI, unlike general-purpose clouds such as AWS or Azure. CoreWeave, Nebius, and IREN are often called neoclouds.
Why did CoreWeave stock fall?
The pressure came from worries about financing, CoreWeave debt, and AI credit. On October 8, 2026 the stock fell 7.77% after media reports about OpenAI's revenue, and on October 14 it fell 15.46% after reports that yields on CoreWeave's bonds were approaching 15%. On October 16 the stock closed at US$61.39, down about 30.6% from the October 7 close.
Is CoreWeave profitable?
Not by GAAP measures. GAAP net loss was US$1.17 billion in 2025, and the Mobee Research estimate for 2026 is a loss of US$2.96 billion. The Adjusted EBITDA margin is high, but GPU depreciation and interest expense consume most of the result.
What is CoreWeave's RPO?
RPO (remaining performance obligation) is the value of contracts that have been signed but not yet recognized as revenue. As of June 30, 2026, CoreWeave's RPO was US$103.7 billion, about 41% of which is scheduled to be recognized through June 2028.
Who are CoreWeave's biggest customers?
The three largest customers made up 72% of Q2 2026 revenue. Microsoft accounted for about 67% of 2025 revenue, and the Meta and OpenAI contracts began adding to their share in 2026.
Can I trade CRWV on Mobee?
Mobee offers the CoreWeave (CRWV) tokenized stock issued by Ondo, with a price that tracks the original share, subject to certain terms and restrictions. The token is not the share itself. Check the terms and access restrictions in the Mobee app before trading.
Conclusion
CoreWeave is a clear example of a business that grows very fast but depends on financing. Revenue grew 112% in Q2 2026, RPO reached US$103.7 billion, and the average cost of debt is declining. On the other side, debt is rising quickly, GPU depreciation is holding back profit, three customers account for 72% of revenue, and the share price has already fallen about 30% in seven sessions. The Mobee Research model shows the value is highly sensitive: from US$11.94 to US$232.93 per share, and zero on the DCF.
What to watch next is the Q3 2026 results in November, news on financing and bonds, and whether the stock returns to the US$68 to US$78 zone. Always check the date of the data and its source before making any decision.
