Gold prices pulled back roughly 2.1% over the past week after a long rally that brought them close to record highs, now sitting around 22% below their peak. This pullback is a normal move after the sharp gains of recent months, and hasn’t changed the longer-term uptrend, which remains supported by safe-haven demand amid global economic uncertainty. As a token representing 1:1 physical gold ownership, XAUT is moving in line with this consolidation pattern. The current price sits around $4267.15 (Rp76680686), taken from the midpoint of two independent market data sources showing a tight spread of under 0.6% ($4278.37 and $4255.93). With entry in that area, a first target of $4352.49 (Rp78214245), about 2.0% from entry, and a second target of $4437.84 (Rp79747985), about 4.0% from entry, open up if gold’s uptrend resumes.
Gold’s pullback could deepen if strong US economic data reduces expectations for Fed policy easing, which has been one of the main pillars of the gold rally. This scenario is invalidated if price breaks below $4140.00 (Rp74395800).
