This traditional hedge asset is being severely punished by macroeconomic expectations. Based on reports on April 27-28, 2026, global gold prices plunged up to 1.3% and were dramatically thrown out of their main uptrend channel. This movement was driven purely by preventative sell-offs from traders fearing that the Fed will maintain high interest rates longer than expected. The effect of this liquidity bloodbath is clearly recorded on the daily (1D) chart, where the price of XAUT (tokenized gold) slumped sharply from the $4700s resistance ceiling and broke its equilibrium wall. On the 1-hour (1H) chart, this momentum collapse is confirmed by a string of impulsive red candles dragging the price to the $4607.2 entry level with no indication of a reversal. The burden of this interest rate sentiment is projected to continue pressing the price to seek a new balance point, targeting a deeper fall into the $4550 range down to the $4500 lower target over the next 3 days.
Gold is highly responsive to data shocks. If the Fed's press conference suddenly delivers a signal much more dovish than market expectations, the price could instantly leap trapping sellers (bear trap) and skyrocket back through the $4680 boundary.
