On April 8, 2026, the Ethereum Foundation officially announced the sale of 5,000 ETH using CoW DAO's TWAP feature to fund R&D, grants, and donations. On-chain tracking data today (April 9, 2026) confirmed that 3,750 ETH (worth approximately $8.3 million) has already been sold at an average price of $2,214. Currently, 1,250 ETH (about $2.77 million) remains queued to be dumped onto the market. This selloff from Ethereum's treasury coincides with asset dumping by whale entities and ETFs, creating a fatal 3-front blow for buyers. Technically, the asset is currently heavily pressured in the $2,180s range, hovering just ~0.5% above the critical equilibrium boundary (Fibonacci 0.236) at the $2,168 price mark. Given the massive supply flooding the market, this pressure is projected to force the price to break that daily defense level. If that support crumbles, the price will free-fall to test the next liquidity zones in the $2,102 (Fibonacci 0.382) and $2,049 (Fibonacci 0.5) areas over the next 3 days.
Although sentiment is highly bearish due to fundamental pressure, the $2,168 level acts as the final psychological wall. If the first wave of selling pressure is entirely absorbed by institutional buy orders, causing the daily chart to close above $2,168, the breakdown scenario could be thwarted. A failure to break down would trap sellers and trigger a brief technical bounce back to the $2,250 resistance zone.
